Le Pianiste

This movie is entitled “La Pianiste” based on Jelenek’s novel. It won in the Cannes Film Festival last 2001.

According to my prof, it is a film that shocked even the Europeans. lol. When i entered our class room at exactly eight in the morning, I sat near the television set and my prof asked me if i really wanted to stay there since we would be watching a terrifying film. lol. So then, I had a hint that this movie would be gruesome. lol.

Anyway, I’ve been dying eversince I was on my way home to blog about this. Pardon the explicit contents in this blog. But if you are the type of person who is a sado-masochist when it comes to sex, go for this movie. And I have never been disgusted with violence until i watched this. lol. I can take scenes with decapitation, dismembering and gore like in the movie Ran by Kurosawa (Again, thanks to my prof, but that movie was too dragging. I only remember one disturbing scene there, wherein the girl slashed the neck of the man twice by a samurai, but only too deep for the blood to spurt out. And guess what she did next? She licked his neck voraciously and the blood were spreading all over his neck. so cute. lol) , But this la pianiste. Argh.

So anyway, I just wanna share the strange scenes ever that we think, Jelenek is the only who could ever thought of. lol.

For the the most gross-inflicting scene: the teacher is a pervert that she would go in a pornographic movie houses to entertain herself. So she went inside the small room there wherein she was alone. and you could view a real porn without censorship and there were four clips at the screen. Can you imagine how I felt? I was so sleepy as usual, and it was for God’s sake eight in the morning!Tthen what the pianist did, she grabbed a tissue with a semen in a garbage can. and she was literally inhaling it while watching that stuff. and I was, what the fuckery was that for?

Most violent: She held a blade and a mirror. She opened her legs and sat at the bath tub. I thought she would be just shaving. But guess what she did. She cut her genital and you can see the blood dripping in the tub. Then her mother called her for dinner, and she wore her underwear as if noting hurts down there. Oh gawd, just imagining it…argh.

Most humiliating fetish: You know how the movies were seen back then? Yeah, the movie-goers park their car infront of a large screen and watched the movie inside their cars. Of course, some would do their thing inside the car and this pianist came and would watch the people having sex. And then, she peed on the ground and the guy who was currently involved in the sex caught her. And so she ran away while the man was calling him, a cunt. Ah, she’s crazy.

Most what the fuck scene: She tried to rape her own mother but her mother stopped her. She goddamn did that! And my brain cells froze for her insanity!

Most shameful moment: She wanted a brutal sex and she listed down what she want to do so that her partner would follow. Yeah she wants to dominate in the activity, at first. Reading what she wrote, the guy, of course was extremely shocked. He got mad and she begged for him to stay, but he still left and lost all his affection for her. Quite sad, too. Oh well.

Most evil moment: She got jealous because her guy (Yeah, the same guy in the picture) was flirting with one of her students during their piano rehearsals.. Then what she did, she broke a glass while the others were busy at the music and she put the broken glass piece at the hand pocket of that student flirting with her guy. So the moment the poor girl wore her jacket and placed inside the pockets, she screeched in pain and despair. Remember, the girl is a pianist too and was then having a practice for her recital. Yeah, mean.

Yeah, this movie is really sadistic but in another layer it would grip your heart too. Imagine confining a girl for forty years without being exposed to love or other social relations. She only spent her life playing the piano and being an expert in her field. Perhaps, that is the result. Although, her dream of having a sado-masochistic sex was fulfilled at the near end. But it was also really painful, when her guy left her at the end after their sex. Then, at one gathering, when they saw each other, they guys acted as if nothing ever happened to them. Tsk.
