Tell me they are joking.
Yeah, I bet that girl is as superficial as what she said. A “typical Filipina” does not brag about how fortunate and glamorous she is. “Typical Filipinas” are not mostly interested in all the luxuries and shallowness. And please, I believe a “typical Filipina” does not think the way this girl thinks. Screw stereotypes. And what Hermes and LV were she saying? A “typical Filipina” can even barely afford that, but the Elite certainly can. And enlighten me, what did she mean she does not care whether it is stolen or not? Hahaha. Did she mean those material things that she enumerated with a lot of effort? Lulz. My mind froze.
In tsk tsk tsk’s case, I have a wild guess that he/she just wanted to appear intellectual, but sadly, the poor web user failed.
And regarding about the presence of Imelda Marcos, let me quote F. Sionil Jose’s statement in his Open Letter to Noynoy, “Now the Marcoses are on the high road to power, gloating, snickering at our credulity and despicable amnesia.” Yes, it is indeed terrible how can people still allow the tyranny to continue because of their “credulity” and “despicable amnesia” and I believe that is one of the reasons why Imelda did actually won in Congress. Woo. *I love how Sionil Jose’s words were too humbled and modest. He could have used more violent words. LOLJK.
Anyway, please do not dare question the credibility of F. Sionil Jose since I found out just last week, he is the only Filipino who got short-listed for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Wooooo, way to go! He is my favorite local writer, and I really find him adorable and comic when he visited our university to celebrate his birthday. Ah yeah, he is a former faculty in De La Salle University-Manila but I guess he retired due to old age.

Pointlessness

I find this post on Tumblr, and I reblogged it so I could comment.

And this was my reaction,

Actually, you guys missed the point :D Don’t blame the innocent Disney Fairy Tales (they’re not even Grimm’s Version) if our/your generation is messed up, that’s an invalid argument, really :D Whatever happened to us, it is because we let it happened; it is our own choice. Just saying :D

Yeah, I do not want it to be long so I tried my best for it to concise as possible.

But I just want to add up something, most children of today kept on complaining and trying to impress everyone by their rebellious spirits which I find pointless. I mean, they hate hearing how others saying how messed up their generation is, to think they are even the ones contributing how their generation is turning out to be. If they really want to fight and clean their reputation, they should stop blaming first. They all should be aware of their mistakes and so they could find ways for change. Yeah, I hope someday they would realized that.

And you see, I am so sick of seeing shallow rants on my Facebook Newsfeeds or Tumblr Dashboards. Yeah, some might say go delete or unfollow them. But what would I be then? Someone who is contributing to a greater apathy of the elders? I never want to waste my existence doing lame things like that.

Off Boundaries: Realist over Romance

Most Filipinos do know Bob Ong, he is a famous writer in Romance mode in the Philippines who is making his attempt into Realism.

I remember like five years ago when I would be laughing crazily at my room while reading his books. When I used to think, he is a good writer, but not really someone I would look up to. But all those beliefs faded when I entered the Literature Major Program. He is too melodramatic.; too sentimental; too trying hard to be literary, well that were based from my professors. His works, always infusing sympathy to the readers; always in the romance mode. Or can we even really consider him as as a romantic (not romanticist)?. My profs dislike him, and yes even Charlson Ong feels the same way. But anyway, he is fun to read and he is oh-so-famous in popular culture, in mass civilization.

But I am still sad, for seeing how hostile this world really is. Why would there is always be a boundary between the masses and the bourgeoisie? And even in arts and literature, the line separating the two worlds is too distinct.

On the Abuse of Sarcasm

I just noticed many people were using it to poke fun on others and I am not generalizing all the “sarcastiques”, okay? Because some were harmless and quite comic though. But there are others who are really, ugh. do you really think being sarcastic and humiliating others make you witty? Why not try to overcome your superiority complex first? And I know you know “sarcasm is the lowest form of wit”, right? So please if you are just making sarcastic commentaries just to prove you are that clever, think again.
On the other hand, I look up to those people who know comedy so well (Oh, Hi Oscar Wilde!). They are intellectual enough to entertain without hurting other people.
